TURNER

Artists have always been fascinated by wild weather. Legend says that J. M. William Turner, a landscape artist born in London, England, in 1775, asked to be tied to the mast of a ship during a storm at sea so that he could experience it from the most dramatic point of view. With that firsthand knowledge he hoped to paint excellent stormy scenes. You don't have to strap yourself to a sinking ship to get a good sense of the power of a storm. Just step outside during a rain storm and watch the clouds. Then capture it in your own wild wacky weather painting.
